The Sims Online, version 1.1235.1.0
This version brings Free Greening back, just in time for Labor Day! It also includes some fixes for UI button issues.
This version will require a small download from the previous version.
UI Button fixes
We have fixed the issue with the Retire Sim button overlapping the Move Sim button in some cases.
Another issue with the Cancel Move button not appearing in the 1024x768 mode has also been corrected.

 Lately in Test Center, there have been a few newbs running around. They've asked for help and recieved it. They've also asked for help and been ignored. I recently wondered how easy it was for a new player in Test Center, and I got my answer.
My name was Simon MacArthur, sound familiar? I was born on August 26, 2005, and I was "new".
Right when I entered the city. I did what any new person would do, and built myself a house. My house was called "MacArthur's TV Studio" where I would have talk shows on a daily basis. It was a lot size one, but I bought everything I needed. I had a buffet table, a toilet, a shower, and my little studio. I didn't really do any talk shows.
Immediately after I searched around. I didn't know how to play! I should go find someone to help me! My first stop was a house where all the roomies had parental controls! Sadly, not knowing what parental controls were, and that these people had them on, I cried for attention.
Eventually, someone Private messaged me asking me to go to their house. I accepted, but I asked how. Guess what? Did you know we have bio's!? We can also visit a person's house by going to it. Amazing. I was in awe.
When I arrived at this skill house, I realized I was poor. Like any avid "The Sims" player I wanted to use the money cheat. "rosebud". Sadly, it didn't work. I started asking around the house for the money cheat. One person told me they got 100k a day from it, but they wouldn't tell me. Someone else told me there wasn't one. Who should I believe!?!? I eventually got frustrated and left. I went to another skill house. This one was owned by my friends (they didn't know it was me). I immediately asked about the money cheat, and to my dismay there isn't one. Darn it! How do I make money now!? Well, they told me, and they were really helpful. I learned a lot from them.
My next stop was a money house. I still had many questions about the game. The people at this money house answered my questions, but not clearly enough. Their answers were "use chat history", or "Code pizza and maze are the best". They didn't really tell me how to do any of that. Eventually we played code. I'm a fast learner! 
So, now it has been 5 days. That's mostly what I learned from other people. At points, it was hard for me to get my answers, and at other times it was easy. Some people would only give me answers if they needed me to help them, others would make fun of me. Overall, I give Test Centers 3 1/2 stars out of 5 stars in newbie friendliness. Shape up Test Center, you never know when you'll be rated again.

Good Evening Interhogan. This is a Stratics News Team Special Report.
We have all seen the latest reports by my colleague Lee Abicht regarding the alien invasion to our beloved town.
Last night Interhogan resident Elida witnessed an unexplainable event at Pashionate Skills. At about 12 AM CST Elida witnessed some very unusual activity while she was enjoying her fresh plate of home cooked. While eating her meal Elida watched a plate float right past her face. She continued to follow this plate. She then watched the plate go into the dishwasher.
A few moments later, Elida watched the beds being made. But still could see no physical being. It's obvious that this phenomenon was caused by the NPC maid. It is speculated that our NPC maid is now controlled by the aliens.
Interhogan residents, I ask that you keep a close watch on your gardener, your maid, and your repairman. The indications show that the alien invasion has proceeded to take over the NPC members of our community. If you see anything suspicious do not take matters into your own hands. Do not try to approach, dismiss, fire, or get in the way of the NPC.
We do not know the details of this invasion. We do not know if these NPC’s will become aggressive, but we do ask that you use extreme caution.

| One of Test Centers Biggest Unsolved Mysteries! | |

My friend in Test Center, MattS, was talking to me about his favorite skill house.
Within the walls of this fine establishment, they only skill one skill, are never afk, always have fresh buffet waiting, and most importantly, they never contribute to any drama. The only thing is, you can't speak with them. They all have parental controls on. Anyone who has been to Mouse undoubtedly has noticed this. Parental block shows a red circle with a line across it when a sim is using this function.
I had to check this place out. We all know I am curious by nature.
Off to mouse I went. Everything Matt said was true. .
This house was wonderful beautifully decorated and yet simplistic. I wanted to know more. I wanted to know if people were sitting behind those blocked out sims. So I brought on my second sim. Anyone who knows me, knows I use my second sim for all the grunt work. Normally bugs I never want to subject myself to. Well today she became the test for the reaction time for the Mouse roomies. She loaded into the lot, and ran to the buffet. She then proceeded to start taking plates off of the buffet. ( I know, we felt terrible, but it was the only way to truly test this) Within three plates she was immediately kicked/banned. The roomie then proceeded to refill the buffet.
Matt and I then proceeded to continue our speculation. Maybe they are from another country. They can't speak English so they block us out to avoid confusion. Maybe the rumors are true. Maybe they are a family who like to play together but don't really want to involve anyone else.
Matt decided to do a little investigating of his own. He tracked their friendship webs and messaged sims who were online to ask what they knew about the Mouse House. Nobody knew anything really. They had just skilled here.
More investigating...
We decided to see if a sim on parental control can communicate with other sims who are on parental control. We learned that they can not, however parental controls do not block anyone on their friendship webs. When you are on parental controls, every sim name, every lot name, reads “Parental Block”
The more we investigated, the more we were confused.
How do they communicate with each other?
Who are they?
Matt has a theory.
To them we are all just NPC's. This is their job track.
I have questions... so many questions about Mouse. And it's now my favorite skill lot.
The more Matt and I skilled there, the more friends would come in and join us for the speculation. It became a game. We created stories for them.
For Peter, Matt and I, the Parental Control Posse is a family of Japanese players. They do not communicate with us because they cannot speak English. They allowed their daughter to design the lot (hence the reason it is done in feminine tones and lovely pinks) and they continue to skill together. They skill each skill together until all are maxed and then they move on to the next.
This will go on to be one of the biggest mysteries of TC.

Nestled somewhere near Sim Francisco in Interhogan, lies a small but homey house, Kristoffer Real Estate . This haven thrives to help the people of IH, it was also the venue for this IH Friday Night!
I decided to ask the owner Troy Kristoffer what Sim Real Estate involves:
Alex Salus: How exactly does The Sim Real Estate Business work?
Troy Kristoffer : Well, there are two ways to do it, the standard way or flipping.
The standard way involves someone who either wants to sell or buy a house
they come to you and you then list and advertise it. Then you take a commission. Also people come to you looking to buy a house, so you just show them the houses you have listed.
Alex Salus : That sounds interesting, how does flipping work?
Troy Kristoffer : Flipping is when you buy a lot/house, and remodel it. You then sell it for more than you bought it for.
Alex Salus : That's cool, thanks!
The Real Estate Business seems to be climbing the lists. Troy's house is now #36 in the shopping
category and is climbing fast!

Greetings Dragon's Cove (DC) Ok I am new to this, but I have just finished my training to become Dragon Coves newest news reporter. Biz won't have to report to you guys alone anymore. Hopefully I can report some good stories and make people want to come back to give this great town a second shot. Hmm where to begin... I'll start by telling you all a little about my sims. I was playing The Sims Online since the beta test in August 2002, and haven't stopped playing since. My first sim was Sexy Maria of Jolly Pines (JP) (recently moved to Blazing Falls (BF), and goes by the new name Sexy Maria2405). Then there is BBrian of Alphaville (AV), he was always a fun sim to play, since he had a lot of my rare's. Finally there was AAshley who first started off in Test Center (TC), but when Dragon's Cove (DC) first opened its doors I deleted her and remade her in DC. I remember the first few days it was impossible to get in the city because of overcrowding, but i stuck with it and stayed there. Maxis will have to try harder to keep me away from that city  . I am currently a 21 year old student studying computer programming. I am almost done getting my associates degree, and is hoping to go on to get my bachelors afterwards. I am from the great dairy state of Wisconsin born and raised. I enjoy playing computer games in my spare time my favorites are The Sims Online (of course), The Sims 2, Warcraft 3, Age of Mythology, Command and Conquer Generals, and Sim City 4. I also like coding websites and applications for fun, I made a nice The Sims Online fansite, nothing fancy but enjoyed making it. Well that's enough rambling on for me I am sure you all want to go back to your homes in DC, I know I do. I hope to see you all in DC sometime, I'm always up for a round of pizza or code. |

Greetings Dan’s Grove!
Many of you know me already, I have been around these here forums for a while. Some of you may also know that I was a junior reporter for this most wonderful city of Dan’s Grove. Well this junior reporter turned eighteen and became a full on news reporter! Now this happened around two months ago but it’s been a tremendously busy summer for me and I just recently received my news reporter training from the wonderful Young!
You want to hear about me you say? Well… how about my life’s story! Or just a few quick tid bits about my life instead. I’m an 18-year-old senior in high school. I live in Washington State and I’m proud to be a west coaster! I’m big into reading, music and life in general. I’ve gone through some changes in the past few months, but I may be the happiest and most stable I’ve ever been in my life now so all is good. Favorite bands are Dynamik and U2 and my favorite books would have to be the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and anything by John Eldredge.
I’ve always wanted to give back to the community here on stratics because I’ve practically grown up on these boards. At least the last two years of my life and my oh my I’ve done quite a bit of growing these last few years. So here I am as your new news reporter ready to get to work! The summer is almost ended and this means that I will actually have that thing called free time, so writing stories will actually happen. If you’ve got any good story ideas or are putting on an exciting event just give me a yell. My PM box is always open!
I’d like to thank Gracie Nito for getting me here. I believe it was Gracie who coerced me into signing on as a junior reporter and it’s Gracie who has kept me accountable and kept my news article up to par. Without Gracie I don’t think I’d be your news reporter today!

You’ve been reading about it here on Stratics!
You’ve been participating in Test Center.
Now here are the final results for the Million Simoleans Contest.
Trial 5 was held at “Dark Knight Skillz” owned by the very hospitable Nailz.
The contest consisted of charisma on guitars til you drop. Prizes were 30k, 15, and 5k as well as a spot in the MSC.

Crystal Ice in third place
All finalists were entered to be part of the final Contest held Thursday @ Get Rich Quick.
The Final contest started with dice roll outs to determine who would make it to the finals. This continued until there were four left. The four finalist went on to duke it out on the war tables.
Second place in the final Million Simoleans Contest was handed to Copper Jones IV.

I’m here to proudly introduce the community of Test Center to Cotton Candy’.
I sat down with the winner of this amazing contest to ask her a little about herself, and how she felt to be a millionaire.
Jackiee: First off I’d like to congratulate you again for winning this contest. What was the first thing that crossed your mind when you realized you won?
Cotton Candy’: What would I do with it.
Jackiee: What are you going to do with all that money?
Cotton Candy’: I gave some of it away to friends.
Jackiee: What was the first thing you bought?

Painting Mystery
While sitting one night skilling at StLCardinals Skills Nest with Jessica McPherson' (Jess) a suprising discovery was made. Jess pulled a cooking book from the bookshelf, and stopped for a minute, looking at the picture someone had lovingly framed and placed there. "Wait a minute" Jess said. She then looked at each bookcase and discovered the same picture. "Isn't that the painting I sold earlier today to that gnome dealer? The one I keep painting over and over of the wedding couple?". I peered at the painting, and indeed, it was!
I took a picture of that painting in the bookcase, then ran off to find a painting of the wedding couple, wanting to make sure I had the complete scoop for the readers of Stratics. After some magnification of images, it does indeed look like that is the picture.
An exclusive interview with a gnome who refused to be named resulted in some very interesting information. I bought the gnome some jams and cake at a little cafe, and he spilled everything.
 
After the gnome dealer buys our paintings, they take them back to "Gnome Industries" where they treat the paintings with orange potions they buy. He said that orange potions are no longer as readily available as they once were, but they have a stocked supply that should last a while longer. The potion they use shrinks the painting after they throw in in the dryer. The gnomes then slap the shrunk paintings into cheap frames and sell them to unsuspecting sims as part of the bookcase. I thanked the gnome for his time, and he said he would expect me to make extra jams over the following week to make up for breaking his silence.
So, there you have it sims of Interhogan (IH), another mystery solved by a sharp eye of a citizen of IH. If you spot anything you think I should investigate, feel free to drop me a line!

Once long ago I met a girl in TC named Gem’.
It’s funny, when you meet people in game; you never know that they will come to mean something to you by just being there.
Gem’ became a constant friendly face in our small town of Test Center. Always looking for something fun to bring to the community. A true bug hunter, Gem was always looking to make the game a better place.
Today Gem’ told me that she is going to be leaving TSO. It’s time to move on. This reporter found it to be very sad news for Test Center, and myself.
In order to give Gem’ a proper sending off, I wanted to dedicate some time to her here on the Test Center forum. Gem’ has said that while she has played many cities, TC was always her only true home on TSO.
You’ll remember Gem’ from the store Additional Discounts and Meg’s Skill Garden.
So TC, lets give Gem’ a warm goodbye, she always gave everyone else a warm welcome.

| Flights Cleared for Take Off at AVX! For all those sims wishing to go from one city to another or even across Alphaville there is a new alternative to driving or the ever dreaded walking. 
I recently had the opportunity of a full tour of Alphaville Int'l Airport (AVX), owned and operated by Kye Nuex and co-owner xxxDanielxxx. During this tour not only did I get to see first hand all the state-of-the-art security equipment and airplanes, I also learned and actually piloted a flight! (No worries folks; it was just the crew and I. No actual passengers were willing to take a chance on me!) First thing a sim notices when walking into AVX is the high level of security present. In order to get into the airport one must walk through metal detectors. Also, for those incoming to Alphaville keep in mind you will pass through them on your way out. So don’t think about smuggling through your crafted TV’s that you didn’t report to customs! 
After passing through the metal detectors sims go to a large lobby where one can get information on arrivals and departures as well as purchasing tickets. 
My flight was delayed so I decided to take a bit of a nap. Surprisingly the chairs are more comfortable than most airports. After my nap and in order to kill more time before my flight I was given a tour of the back facilities of AVX. Unfortunately the café was closed for renovations. The owner of AVX is looking for new management for the café and any interested parties should contact Kye Nuex for more information. Upstairs is a very large set of bathrooms and rest area as well as the offices of Co-Owners Kye Nuex and xxxDanielxxx (Roommate Resources). You’ll be hard pressed to find Kye and Dan in their offices because both enjoy their very hands-on rolls in their business. Frequently you will find them greeting passengers in the lobby, helping them through the security processes, flying the plane and even riding along to make sure the flights are pleasant. After my tour of the upstairs it was time to board the plane. The first section on the plane is First Class. I must say that the chairs in this section were extremely comfortable. First Class also features in flight movies. 
The second section of the plane is the Economy Class. The seating in this section is still fairly comfortable and there is plenty of space, however the chairs do not recline. 
Also in this section (and available to all passengers regardless of class) are soda and snack vending machines. For those who drink too much soda bathrooms are available there as well. After my tour of the aircraft an offer was made that I simply could not pass up; I was given the option to actually fly the plane! The cockpit has an extremely simplified control panel. It consists of an altimeter that tells the pilots exactly how high up the plane is and a couple of computers. Flying the plane is remarkably similar to the games I play on my home PC. Don’t let the simplicity of the controls fool you though; flying the plane is a very serious job that requires complete concentration. To ensure the pilots are able to perform their duties without distraction or other concerns, special doors were installed. Once the pilots are in, no one else can enter the cockpit. After being sealed inside the cockpit, we started the engines and then the plane took off into the air. It was so neat seeing the numbers on the altimeter wiz as we quickly climbed into the air.  Passengers are required to stay in their seat until the altitude reaches 20. At that point music or movies can be turned on in First Class and passengers in all classes can use electrical equipment. Evidently “Con Air” is the most requested movie. Everything on my first flight went smoothly until we started to land. A freak thunderstorm appeared out of nowhere, but since our altitude was lower than 10 we had to risk it and land anyways. The turbulence was tremendous but with the help of Kye we landed safely. 
After disembarking we went back to the lobby. There are signs in the lobby announcing flights to and from AVX and the passenger list so those waiting for loved ones can know which flight they are on. Since this was my first flight, I was presented with my wings. 
So if you plan on moving cities or traveling across city, plan on taking a flight at Alphaville Int’l Airport! *Please note that this lot is a role-playing lot and does not have anything to do with the Sim Move feature other than providing a place for friends and loved ones to act out their good byes. |
| Gnomes and Santas Invade IH Friday night! | |

The weekly IH Friday Night was held at The Orgy of Trees recently. As always there was a lot to do, mystic trees to see, sims to talk to and even a Hotdog and McDonalds stand to buy from!
One thing was different at this Friday night however, some unexpected visitors were present. They caused quite the stir up! Lots of little Gnomes and Santas decided to invade The Orgy of Trees!
The queue seemed to start out small as you can see
It seemed to get larger and larger as the night went on.
This, of course, angered the hungry guests as they waited impatiently to order their Big Macs and fries, but the intruders just wouldn't budge!
This Friday night was certainly a unique one! Don't get me wrong, the appalling food service aside, it definitely was extremely fun.
I hope I can bring you more news like this in future articles!

As I entered one of the great service lots in East Jerome the owner of Craft Away, Jack Star greeted me with a warm welcome to his beautiful house.

This house offers great service in teaching many skills, which also helps the city, because it is very difficult to find a good skill house these days. They also produce crafts and sell them at reasonable prices, this might bring back the economy East Jerome used to have.
After taking the owner on the side, he agreed to answer a few questions I had for him.
1. What has inspired you to create this house?
Crafting is limited in this city and the people need more places to craft.
2. Since the crafting demand for this city is high, do you believe that it will help its economy and increase it’s population?
I believe so, if not economy the population will increase.
3. Do you think East Jerome can change if it had more craft places? Why?
Crafting would be adding a more variety of rare objects to the stores, building up the economy, as well as creating more pleasure for more people.
This is a house you cannot afford to miss, maybe not for only crafting, but fun and enjoyment, maybe even just to skill.

Good news... our special-case testing of Sim Move did not reveal any issues, so the flights are once again cleared for departure in all cities, for tomorrow morning. We apologize for the additional delay, but we felt that it was vital to insure trouble-free moving for everyone.
We *do* recommend that everyone move themselves out of their existing houses before requesting a move to another city. While this is not necessary -- you will move regardless -- the move system must do quite a bit more manipulation of objects to get everything out of the house and into inventory. This is what the additional testing focused on today. We found no problems, but we still recommend you move out yourselves first, if possible.
If you had a move request in before 1:30pm PDT on Monday, Aug 15, you should move tomorrow (Aug 17). The move process starts shortly after the cities go down for their normal morning maintenance, which is currently about 4:35am PDT (11:35 GMT).
Since there is now quite a significant backlog of move requests in the queue, most cities will take much longer to return from maintenance tomorrow morning. Dragon’s Cove, for example, will most likely take over 2 hours to process all the move requests on that city. Other cities will take varying amounts of time, depending on how many requests there are. We strongly recommend bringing a good book to the airport.
We estimate that the usual downtime will be extended by a period of 30 minutes to over 2 hours, with most cities taking an additional hour for maintenance. This means that the cities will begin returning online around 5:30am PDT, and most should be back up by 6:00am PDT. Dragon’s Cove may not return until 6:30 or 7:00am PDT. (See what we meant about the good book? )
Once this first move has completed, we will enable the move system to process requests at each morning reset, and the reset periods should return to normal.

Welcome to another edition of 'Joshua's Property Reviews' with 2 more property reviews from Jolly Pines. This week we are facing our main spotlight onto Kahuna's Sexy Bodies. Founded back in late October 2004, Kahuna's Sexy Bodies has always been within the top 10 in the charts serving Jolly Pines for its fantastic body needs. It has had many different roommates over the past 9 ½ months but has always been live and strong when it comes to popularity. Today, I decided to have a short interview with Big Kahuna, the owner, to ask him on his success with Kahuna's Sexy Bodies.
Joshua Talmon: So Kahuna, what made you decide to make a body house?
Big Kahuna: Well, I used to have a body house for almost a year, and we did nothing but skill body so we decided to go for it. It was a second house meant to skill in the morning only.
Joshua Talmon: What is your main strategy of success if you have one?
Big Kahuna: We never thought we would get this far, we just have a good time and not stress over competition, if people have fun they will come back.
Joshua Talmon: Do you choose to have set shifts for roommates at your house?
Big Kahuna: Not exactly, we kind of work together with different real life things happening, we keep on contact with each other on Yahoo so we always know when someone can help. No one is able to keep a set time, thats not logical - real life things always happen.
Joshua Talmon: Are you planning on changing focus. Are you planning on remaining a body house?
Big Kahuna: Always will.

Cooking With Lucyann as we know today stands at no.1 on the charts The house first started late May 2004 and has since then been a very succesful house. Cooking With Lucyann would have to be one of the best and eaiest Cooking houses Ive seen so far this year offering great greening facilities close by with easy access. I don't have much to say about Cooking With Lucyann but that it offers everything you'd ever need for Cooking. I also had a small chat with Lucyann (The Owner) later on also to ask her about her success of owning such a succesful Cooking house.
Joshua Talmon: What made you decide to make a Cooking house?
Lucyann: I have always owned a skill house since I started TSO, and since Cooking is a very popular skill in Jolly Pines, I decided to make a Cooking house.
Joshua Talmon: What is your main strategy of success?
Lucyann: Absolutely anybody can make a #1 skill house just by going by a few simple strategies. I myself have had a skill house in 4 cities so far.
Joshua Talmon: Do you choose to have set shifts for roomates at your house?
Lucyann: I prefer not to have set shifts for roomates but just to know the time they round about come online, much easier for them if you know what I mean.
Joshua Talmon: Are you hoping to keep your house going for many months to come?
Lucyann: Im not sure, if I get too sick in real life is what it all depends on. |

The DC Leak
The DC Leak will be a new Dragon's Cove (DC) mini story offering a tip that could help non DC players have "an advantage" when they move into town.
The First Leak: With more sim moves coming August 16th if you plan on keeping a DC sim a trip to your one and only hardcore city might well be well worth the time. In the fist batch of moves some of DC's rare lots and islands freed up, now with a new move version more rare lots are bound to free up. So if you are keeping a DC come take a quick peak of the map view tomorrow after maitenance!

(Please note these stats are not supported or endorced by Maxis)With the recent (although incomplete) Sim Move update we reporters got to thinkin that with all the movement into and out of AV it is possible we would start to see a lot of fresh faces and new lots spring up all over the city. We interviewed 26 sims and here is what we found: 20 of those sims have always been in AV and always will.
5 of those sims just moved to AV and plan on staying.
2 of those 5 sims moved from BF.
1 sim is leaving AV for IH once flights out of AV commence again. If this very small sampling holds true then AV stands to gain a lot of competition in the future. As our city grows it will be interesting to see how it shows up in these monthly reports. Thanks to all the sims that gave a few moments to be polled by the reporters! Anybody who has visited GameRUs-Slots and Trivia knows that it is one of the most fun, and often most exciting, gaming lots in our city. Just by seeing the name, Sims can decipher what this wonderful house offers: games, slot machines, and many trivia games. However, these are no ordinary games; in the past couple of years, the owner Coquiboy has created the most entertaining, interesting, and unique games out there. Not only that, but he always offers the biggest prizes, bonuses, and payouts! Even Sims who enter the house low on cash can leave as millionaires! His prizes have always impressed (and often awed) visitors, even to the point that many Sims joke that he has a constant supply of simoleons! 
Fun Facts about GameRUs - GameRUs is the longest running casino (and possibly the longest running house) in Blazing Falls. It will soon celebrate its "millennium" (1,000 days, in this case) anniversary.
- GameRUs is a great house for nighttime Sims. It is often found open at and after 10:00 pm (Eastern time).
- GameRUs entertains its guests with such reality shows as The Mole, Survivor, and Big Brother, and game shows such as Greed, Who wants to be a Simoleonaire, the Weakest Sim, and the newly introduced Let's Make a Deal. The house even does the Olympics and swimming tournaments on occasion.
- Starting this Monday, August 15th, will be the house's 4th edition of The Mole. In this game, players are working together to build up a pot of money that the winner receives. However, one player is secretly the mole, whose job is to prevent money from being added to the pot. Round by round, players answer questions about who they think the mole is, and the player who answers the fewest correct questions is eliminated. There is eventually just one player remaining: the winner.

We are going to test fixes to the Sim Move system today on Mount Fuji during the normal reset period for this city, which begins around 2:35pm PDT. The testing may extend the downtime; we expect the city to be back up by the normal time of 3:00pm PDT, but if testing requires more time we will keep the city down longer. We appreciate your patience for this critical testing.
If all goes well with these latest changes, we will initiate another city-wide move for everyone during the normal city reset period tomorrow morning... yay!

August 2005 - Property Spotlight - Hollyweird 
This month Dan's Grove welcomed the Grand Opening of Hollyweird, owned by Shaemus. While Shaemus has been seen about town at many events, visiting skill houses, making money, shopping or just hanging out with friends for a couple of months, it was this month that the long awaited "Grand Opening" of his property took place. On August 3rd, the doors were officially opened to all citizens and in true Dan's Grove fashion, they began to pour through the entrance. The popular, Brown Derby restuarant became a gathering place of the rich, famous, and scantilly dressed sims immediately, as they dined and soaked up the atmosphere around them. Sims were treated to a myriad of activities from sprinkler jumping contests to fireworks. The night was filled with excitement. If you weren't trying to cram yourself into a tiny wading pool with everyone else, you might have been strolling along Hollyweird Blvd and being entertained by street muscians or just dancing in the streets. If you needed a more quiet moment to yourself you could stop in a bar and have a quiet drink or game of pool with your best friend. "The Shaemus Show" was playing at the Grahman's Chinese Theatre that night, and I was honored to be interviewed by Shaemus, himself, as a guest on his show. Although, I'm still not too happy about him dragging all those confessions out of me in front of a live audience! After stalking Shaemus for about two weeks, I finally got my chance to pay him back with an interview of my own! Shaemus created his first sim in Dan's Grove two years ago this month. However, as time went by his new found TSO friends began to drift away. Shaemus also drifted away from Dan's Grove. Spending some time in Blazing Falls, he created and ran what he referred to as a "boardwalk town". We have the arrival of the second anniversary gift, Mystic Tree, to thank for inspiring Shaemus to return to Dan's Grove and build Hollyweird. Fashioned after his first vision, The Hollywood Backlot, Shaemus has managed to create a small town with big Hollywood style glitz. 
When Shaemus is not busy greeting guests, you might catch glimpses of him firing cannonballs at his flamingo. You'll be sure to experience his sense of humor when he asks you to jump in his sprinkler. Suddenly, the flamingo is no longer his target, you are! 
The re-occurring theme that surfaces when visiting Hollyweird or talking with Shaemus is that he wanted to bring people together in the romantic setting style of Hollywood and provide a place for them to feel at ease where they can just have fun. I would recommend, Hollyweird as a sight to see, for anyonne living in or visiting Dan's Grove. The best experience is to walk the streets slowly and take in all the sights. Whether you are standing in front of Grahman's Chinese Theatre staring at the handprints in cement or relaxing on the balcony of a luxury suite in the Hollyweird Roosevelt Hotel, you are sure to relax and enjoy your stay.

This month I decided to review one of the top 5 shopping houses, Max|s Mall.
My decision came from the 72 hours event held last week. This house was one of the most fun houses I was at the whole time! We played hide and go seek, and had a fashion show. It was great! It was a little different being there without all of those other people. Actually it seemed a little better. I was able to get to know the owner and the roomie a better than before. Then I was able to interview the Owner.
DjFroggie: How long have you had Max|s Mall in FF?
Autumn Breeze: I have had Max|s Mall here for 1 1/2 years, although I had left for 4 months.
DjFroggie: When you first started out as a store, did you ever think you would be here this long and be this big?
Autumn Breeze: HAHA. No I didn't, I thought this would be a huge money pit, lol but I love it now, and I am so glad I amd so popular among the shoppers.

DjFroggie: Your house was involved in the 72 hour city event. Do you often have contests?
Autumn Breeze: We love FF and came up with the 72 hour sleep over to benefit FF, not our own place, I love meeting new people and I am sure Zasie feels the same, but can you ask her too ) We do like t give away things though and have been known for our parties and contests.

Just some of the rare Max|s Mall has to offer!
I chose Zasie as sim of the month for one reason. She is dedicated to the revival of Fancey Feilds. Well, not the revival, but she is dedicated into pointing out that it is here, and not dead. I relized this in one of her latest efforts, Fancey Fields 72 hour sleepover. Zasie, along with her friend autumn Breeze, was able to get together a number of hosues and sims to have a party for a full 72 hours! Most of the time, the houses would be full! Zasie deserves to be in the Fancey Fields spotlight this month, and I was given the chance to interview her.
DjFroggie: You, along with Autumn Breeze, came up witht he idea for the 72 hour sleepover. How did you come up with the idea?
Zasie: I actually read a post from a month or two earlier on Fancey Fields Forum about starting a City Party or Event. Nothing ever came out of it, so I decided to pick a date and the time slot rules.
DjFroggie: In your eyes, was the 72 hour sleepover a success?
Zasie: It turned out better than I thought. Most of the time slots were filled and most the houses stuck to their time slot. Houses were even full where the roomies had to keep jumping to let people in. That doesn't usually happen in Fancey Fields in the last couple months.
DjFroggie: I was only able to attend 2 or 3 events in the 72 hour sleepover. How many events did you attend?
Zasie: I made it to 10 or more. Once I couldn't attend because the house was full, lol.
DjFroggie: At one point you told me you left the game for a while. Why did you leave, and why did you decide to come back?
Zasie: I have actually taken 2 breaks from The Sims Online. Both times it was because I was a SIm Addict, lol. I let the game take over my life too much, and I needed to get back to real life. Both times I came back was out of curiosity on what was new in game, and to say hi to my TSO friends. The hardest par leaving the game is saying bye to my friend here.
DjFroggie: Is there anything else you would like Stratics to know?
Zasie: I hear alot of people complain about the city being slow,a nd alot of people complain in this city too. I wish they would do somethign about it instead of just complaining. I'm hoping someone organizes another city party or event like that, so we can keep up the positive vibe on bringing this city back to life. If no one will do it, I'll probably try to do another one, but it would be nice to see if someone else can do one. They can put their own spin on it, and maybe get some new houses to participate that didn't last time. |

Carpenters Grove Review
Carpenters Grove boasts one of Dragon's Cove's (DC) largest mystic tree collections and owners Poppa John Pizza and Mama Celeste Pizza are always willing to share there fruits. It just goes to show how kind the sims that live at Carpenters Grove are. If you do happen to sneak into DC go check out their house where a fun and friendly time is guaranteed.

House Review: Makeem n'Bakeem
Being relatively new to TSO hasn't stopped Renee TSO from owning and managing a successful money house in Intherhogan (IH). Makeem n'Bakeem has been in the top five money houses for two months, however this month she managed to earn the number one spot. With a little help from her roomie patrick thomas Renee manages to pack them in night after night.
The house offers payout all the time in the amount of $300 per object. Woodworking and preserve stations are always available. Renee TSO is willing to go to her storage and pull out a pinata or board if you request it, and still offer the same payout of $300. You might expect this house to be nothing but number talk, but you would be wrong. Lively converstaion, serenades and home cooked meals keep people coming back. When asked why she chose to do payouts, Renee TSO stated that "All sims need a little pocket change. We chose the payout amount to ensure that we would be able to continue payouts into the future. Also giving away money is fun. I'd do it in RL if I could". Although I was a little unsure as to what this "RL" she spoke of might be, she did seem sincere when she said it.

House/Sim Review
While I found myself honored to do the State of the City Address in CC, I came across a skill house which was unlike most you see. Upon entering I was greeted in a very welcoming fashion. I was basically at this point going around a town I’m not familiar with thinking to myself “I have to find a review” Well Mom’s found me.
I normally do not like to showcase top 5 skillhouses because those just being there can showcase themselves. However, you walk in and you really do feel like you are walking into moms.
I always get nervous when asking somebody I don’t know to allow me to review their house. But when I approached mom she was gracious about it and very willing to accommodate me in my questions.
Mom started the game in December of 2003. Sadly the person behind Mom had recently lost her husband and her daughter gave her TSO to keep her occupied in her time of mourning. We discussed how TSO can be such a great comfort when real life isn’t at its best and how til this day it is still a comfort to her. Mom started out in BF but shortly moved to CC where she started her skill lot.
The one thing I found when chatting with Mom is that she truly cares about her guests. She says she worries about some of her in game friends as if they are her own children and to me that brings home what TSO is all about. The friends and family you find in game and often the sense that finding these friends was something you never intended upon your first login.
Mom’s main goal is friends and fun. Mom, like the rest of us, finds it so frustrating when a friend gets scammed and uses the grapevine method in CC to warn off people to new scammers. So scammers beware! Mom knows what you are doing!
Moms Cooking-Charisma offers easy greening, the friendliest of atmospheres, a beautiful wedding chapel, and from what I noticed, friendly chatting in an AFK world!
Although this originally was a house review I found the lot owner to be very unique!

There was a Cross-Server Calendar that would not clutter our forum views!
Yes, folks... that's right. We have implemented our latest feature, which is the option to either show or hide the cross-server calendar in your main discussion forum.
Here’s the tech stuff:
Prior to this feature, whenever an event was added to the server-specific calendar, it was also added to a main cross-server calendar. Therefore, if you had many separate events on a given day, that main calendar could literally take up inches of your viewable space, causing one to scroll down to see the discussions occurring in the forum.
Talk about clutter!
So here is what we have done.
Now, users have the option to either show or hide this main cross-server calendar. By using a toggle switch on the upper right-hand corner of the screen right above the calendar itself, each user can decide whether or not they wish to see this calendar. Once selected, that option will remain until the user switches. In other words, if you do not wish to see the calendar, select “Hide Calendar”. Until you choose to “Show Calendar”, the main cross-server events calendar will remain hidden. You can still view all events on the main server-specific calendars, however!
No matter where you go... this feature goes with you. You do not need to show/hide on each instance.

House/Sim Review
Originally I was going to review the store of Peter Standish, Best Buys, but Peter did something completely unpredictable!
He gave up his thriving rare store for a lovely sim named Natalius Lynn. Peter and Natalius have known each other for a while, it’s hard not to in a town where you know all your neighbors, but on 7/26 they decided there was something there so they became more than just friends.
Nata had moved in with Peter at his store. Peter could tell that selling rares wasn’t Nata’s forte so he told Nata he could keep his rare business, selling rares cheap and privately, and they could live in any type of house that she wanted.
In giving up his business of rare’s Peter found something so rare in TC, something none of us knew we had, he found that Nata is an amazing lot designer.
When I found that Peter sold his store, and my TC lot review was basically a wash, I told him I’d still like to review his lot. He agreed with one stipulation. It was to be a complete surprise to Nata.
When I entered the lot of Peter Loves Nata, I expected the usual. Well in this instance I learned never to expect anything. I was amazed at how everything flowed together so beautifully, how everything had its own spot and every tile was symmetrically perfect.
Peter and Nata have outdone themselves with this lovely home. The sole purpose of this home is fun. But there is a side benefit to visiting Peter and Nata’s. Skilling. Peter and Nata had the foresight to know that most sims are ambitious so their lot falls into the skilling category. So while you are having fun with Peter and Nata in a beautiful setting, you can gain some skill. I urge you to visit, if not for fun, for the scenery alone.

Karly' is a very good hostess who is quick to greet her guests and see to their every need. Karly's Crafting is a beautiful house with a great layout for easy greening. 
Unlike some crafting lots that have maybe 2-4 crafting benches, Karly' has 9 crafting benches. No lines at this crafting lot! 
Karly''s greening facilities are top knotch including a state-of-the-art dining room and a luxurious bedroom and bathroom. 
I was curious about this lot and its creator so I just couldn't pass up the chance for an interview. Thank you, Karly', for taking a few minutes out of your schedule (there were several guests there) and answering my questions! Babe-: What inspired you to make a crafting house?
Karly': A group of us just wanted a place to craft and there were not many houses at the time. Babe-: Did you buld this house?
Karly': Yes Babe-: What do you feel sets you apart from other crafting houses?
Karly': We have lots of tables, a tree for fast greening, serenades and we open on request. Babe-: If you could give one tip to new crafters what would it be?
Karly': It seems to help if your skills are a few levels above the requirement. Babe-: What is your favorite part about owning & running a craft house?
Karly': It's just fun to see someone make something for the first time and I'm happy to be a part of it. Babe-: How long has Karly's Crafting been in opperation?
Karly': Wow, good question. I think since the end of May. I had a wonderful time at Karly's Crafting and in Mount Fuji and I have the feeling that I now have a new vacation spot that I find myself frequenting more and more! |

Today I found out that Young Un, was a pet abuser in Interhogan! Young Un was playing with her mean pet cheetah Juliet. Well, you can hardly call trying to get a Climbing Carnivine to snap at your pet playing... can you? Young Un obviously likes it though.

I was upstairs at Island Outlets, making friends with -Ryan. All of a sudden, I saw a Purple Turkish cat appear on the bottom right hand corner of my screen. "WOW" was my response, as i thought Young Un was still pet pulling from ealier on that evening. I looked at the name of the pet cat to see it was 'Krom'.
"You must be rich Young Un" I said. As I waited for the reply, Young Un's blue text appeared on screen saying "I traded her for a nice tiger," I was astonished that someone had traded a purple turkish for a tiger! Then came the news! "All my pets are mean except for Mango" said Young Un
If you think this isn't Cruelty to Animals, trying to get it eaten by a carnivine! Then what is?!

Question - What made you want to go up for this position?
SilverSpike - I love writing and I write reports for the school paper too, I enjoy writing and I love TSO, so join them together and, viola! lol
Jackiee - My friend DJ Froggie was a reporter. He wanted a partner so to speak, basically someone to help him get his articles up so that he didn't always have to pester the news manager. I figured this would be fun. Never did I imagine it would be as much fun as it is. THANKS JOEY!
DjFroggie - Well, with ever game I play, I want to be a better part of the game. I want to help out and be important. I figured this would be the only way in which I could help out and be more important with The Sims Online, and I applied. It will be a year of news reporting, with September 5th as my anniversary, and I'm still finding stuff to report on!
Question - What do you want to bring to The Sims Online, Test Center boards?
SilverSpike - I would like to bring more posts about testing, as Test Center is all about testing new things for the game, so sometimes it annoys me to see nothing about testing things.
Jackiee - My main goal when posting an article, playing my game, or posting on the boards is fun. If the game can't be fun, what’s the point of playing it? I try to always make my articles lighthearted and fun for the participants for that article as well as fun for me. A volunteer job should be fun and should never be work!
DjFroggie - I want to bring fun back to The Sims Online, which is why I started my own, NOT SPIONSORED BY STRATICS, Test Center Committee. The committee organizes events such as big contests, Simmy awards, and reunions, for all of Test Center to enjoy. I would also like to bring readers to the Test Center boards. (This is where I sound conceited) Many people read the Stratics front page for the news, and leave. They don't even bother to post. I would like my stories to encourage them to at least come on the boards and say GOOD JOB! Maybe just that one post will get them posting everywhere.
Question - What do you think will come to the game after Sim Move?
SilverSpike - I have this slightest feeling inside me that another new city may come along, also i was maybe thinking that they would make TC a production city rather than a test city.
Jackiee - I think for a while people will be moving around to their desired cities. And I hope that many will use it in a way to enhance their game play, their creativity and their fun. Amazing suggestions in city hall, hopefully many will try them out!
DjFroggie - I think we will be receiving a surprise. Seriously, I don't know what's next. However, I do have a feeling that we will not be getting advanced skilling for a while now.
Question - If there is a spur of the moment event, and you're not here, is there any other way we can reach you?

Jackiee - Well I think Joey knows more ways to reach me than my own mother but we've never had anything so urgent come up yet! Roger does have my Yahoo now, and I'm mostly always checking in on Stratics!

Question - If you could change the game in any way, how would you change it, and why?
SilverSpike - I would bring new objects to the game, and also bring in what the sims would like within reason.
Jackiee - There are little things I would ask for here and there, but mainly if I could change anything I'd make it so that anyone and everyone would enjoy the game as much as I do!
DjFroggie - I would get rid of the drama, simplify the reporting feature, and make the Terms of Service a little more clear. Right now there are some fuzzy points in the Terms of Service which I would like cleared up. Also, the reporting feature isn't clear enough. When you go to report someone, many of their categories are too broad, and if you don't report to the right one, you lose. The drama will never stop, but it has to.
Question - Do you have a job in real life? If so, what do you do? Maybe a picture?
SilverSpike - In real life, i work at the local corner shop, work for my school newspaper, and have a paper run, so I have quite a busy life outside of the TSO world!
Jackiee - I do have a job in real life.... (I had to do three b/c my work area is somewhat extended due to the volume of work I have lol. I work for a Subcontracting firm in NY. I spend at least 12 hours a day at work lately but that should end around September! What you see below are stacks of projects I am currently working on. This is the stuff that I MUST do in a timely manner. This does not include all the other stuff that gets thrown at me. At work I deal with at least 60 phone calls a day regarding current projects we have so it gets pretty crazy. People never understand why I prefer to type over talking. Thats a little insight as to why.

Question - Could you tell us a little about yourself?
SilverSpike - No answer
Jackiee - I always dislike the "tell us a little about yourself" question. I always feel dorkish answering it. A little about myself. The sim part of me hates to skill, loves to do random interactions and loves to visit random people and hunt down news. The person behind the sim lives in NYC and loves just about every minute of it, loves to play TSO and loves just about every minute of it. Enjoys good conversation, moonlit walks on the beach and candlelit dinners.
All that is true except the moonlit walks on the beach (you are liable to cut your foot on glass on NYC beaches) and candle lit dinners are just cliché to me.
I plan to play TSO until they either shut it down or I become completely unable to use my keyboard and mouse due to carpal tunnel syndrome from too much TSO.
DjFroggie - I also dislike the "tell us about yourself" question. Let's see. Well I live in Jersey, I LOVE to act, which could explain my acting siggies. Really, musicals are the best, but I cant sing so that makes them worse. Some plays I've been in include Scrooge (A Christmas carol with animals instead of humans) I was little ebby. In 5th grade I was the Frog prince in Hyranomous a Frog, which is where I got the nickname Froggie. I was the lead in 5 of 6 plays every year until I got to High school. In high school I was an extra in a little known play called "The Stuck Pot" then I was a sailor in "Anything Goes." When I became a Sophomore, we got a new Fall production teacher so I was now one of the leads (Quince) in "A Midsummer Nights Dream." Then, for musical we did "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying", I was Benjamin Burton Daniel Ovington. I will soon be seeing wicked on Broadway. A few physical things, my hair is Naturally blonde, currently red. I have blue eyes, and I stand about 5'7.

Citizen Alert
In a bizarre mix of food fetish meets The Log Lady (from the popular television series Twin Peaks), the crazy-cake-plate-lady has stolen into Alphaville unannounced. Well, until now, that is.
Initially her behaviour was mistaken for consideration, as she picked up cake plates abandoned by less conscientious citizens after a cake-feeding frenzy. However when she made no attempt to deliver said plates to the handy dishwasher, her behavior took on a more ominous aspect. Assuming that she was perhaps having difficulty locating the kitchen, another sim helpfully took the stack of plates from her. Everyone present was caught by surprise when she immediately snatched the stack back, screaming "Yoink!!" and proceeded to run in random circles around the bewildered onlookers.
Repeated attempts were made to collect the now fly-ridden plate stack but the crazy-cake-plate-lady turned out to be very fast and VERY determined. The plates would be hightailing towards the dishwasher in the hands of a more mentally capable sim when they would mysteriously disappear from their grasp, only to reappear in hers, accompanied by her primal Yoink!! yell. Sims speculated that she was trying to communicate on some basic level and joined in, giving her a reassuring YoinK!! in response as they attempted to retrieve the cake plates from her possession.
Order was restored when a new wedding cake was produced. In the face of many more potential plates to add to the stack, the crazy-cake-plate-lady was distracted long enough for her existing plate stack to be whisked into the washer, halting decisively any further Yoinks!! Robbed of her treasure, she took a nap, shower, bathroom break, ate a plate of homecooked food, played some basketball, then vanished into the night without a trace, her true identity remaining a mystery.
Alphaville citizens are encouraged to carefully monitor the guest list at future weddings, birthdays and other festive occasions. Somewhere out there, the crazy-cake-plate-lady bides her time, searching the events calendar, waiting for opportunity to come munching.

Tonight’s contest took place at Spider-man's Nightclub. The contest was a dance (on the dance floor) until you drop. The top three winners are entered into next weeks million simoleon contest. WE HAD A FULL HOUSE!
We started off with approximately 18 people dancing. Which includes Rob the Spider-Man, Justin the Daredevil, -Arturo, Foxylady, CntryGrl, Rikku, Jon, Tasha, Peter Standish, Salome, Dainel, Lance Cool, Fuzzles, and mannequin.

The first one to leave was Dainel. Followed shortly after by Tasha, mannequin, Foxylady, and Fuzzles. They all had to leave. Rikku was the first one red, and everyone else followed soon after!

Let's take a step back in time.
Back to when the games had no graphics, no sound and only printed and accepted text. Does anybody remember?
Tagged as The Original Adventure Game, The Colossal Cave, written by Willie Crowther and Don Woods, first appeared on such computers as the PDP11 and the IBM S/360 mainframes. It was originally written in Fortran and was truly the very first online role-playing game. We first saw this text-based game in the early seventies. From there it's been converted to numerous programming languages, many written languages and translated to several different operating systems.
For those that do remember AND for those that don't, Stratics has created a new forum site for you to experience a bit of nostalgia... or, in the case of the younger crowd, to see what it was all about and how online gaming as it is known today has truly evolved. You can play this very game right here on Stratics. So get some paper (making a map is essential) and try your hand at playing The Colossal Cave.
If our Stratics Gamers find this to be something enjoyable, we'll be sure to convert a few more too. One that we'd really like to see is Zork. Remember that one?

On or abouts August 23, 2005 Alphaville, as well as some sims in it will be turning one thousand days old. November 26, 2002 Alphaville was reborn after the last wipe during beta some of these sims who were created at that time are still alive and kicking in Alphaville. They have seen Alphaville grow over the past thousand days. Have cried, laughed and found many things to keep them entertained. Some have been here for the duraration, some have left and came back. But they all have one thing in common, they have survived soon to be, one thousand days without recreating. With the date quickly approaching I would like to take the time to wish all of them a happy one thousandth day anniversary. May there be many more!

What it means to me, the players perspective!
A few of the players in Alphaville had the chance to speak out on what the past thousand days in Alphaville has meant to them. Their comments follow:

Charlene Mathews "The last 1000 days here have meant a lot to me. I have met so many wonderful people here. I've had the honor of having a number one skill house. I've tried all sorts of things. My favorite thing is being able to teach others. I love that option, teaching, and no I don't charge."
Kayle "To me, Alphaville means home. After over 1000 days of coming and going, I always find AV to be the place where I can come to when I'm bored. I've made many friends and lost many here, lived at over 30 different lots and spent so much time in this virtual world. It may not be "as friendly as the other cities" as some seem to say, but I like it how it is- big enough to find at least someone you have something in common with at all hours of the day."
Pebbles Flinstone "Thats a tuffy! 1000 days in Alphaville.....pain, suffering, and gnashing of teeth, but its been a blast!
Rexm "I started out as a beta tester to just to play a game for free. Well I got hooked on the game and met alot of great sims in the past 1000 days and still meeting great sims. I hope things will be going strong here for another 1000 days."
Chelcie I would have to say my favorite part of the game is the friends I have made.
Melonie Ann "I have enjoyed the last 1000 days in Alphaville, and I look forward to many more. I don't think I could ever delete my Melonie Ann sim. I have developed an emotional attachment to it. There were times I was unable to play, or that I was in other citys trying new things, but Alphaville will always be home. I always come back to it no matter what. I have alot of memories some good some bad. Alphaville has always entertained me. I have met new friends only to have them leave and this has been a repeated cycle. But I still love Alphaville."
And now we wait to see if the number will go to 1000 or roll over!

Picture this... you're camped on your Control Panel of your busiest instance. You've looked at your Favorite Forums listed there and you've dealt with any activity that needs dealing with. So this portion of your job is done for now. But what about the other instance(s) where you have responsibilities? "Oh, Yeah! I guess I'll go there and see what's up."
You click your link to go to the other instance and up comes the main page. You click the Control Panel button and glance at your Favorite Forums on that instance. "Hmm... nothing I really need to deal with here. Let's see, I have one more instance to check before I can play my game."
Once again, you click your link to go to this last instance and up comes its main page. You click the Control Panel button and glance at those Favorite Forums. "Pretty quiet here too. Can I play now?" Well, before you play you think, "I'd better go back and check the first instance again just in case." When you get there it's still lifeless so, "Yay! I can play now!!"
You get the picture? Thought so. Now, here's what new:
You're camped on your Control Panel of your busiest instance. You've looked at your Favorite Forums listed there and you've dealt with any activity that needs dealing with. So this portion of your job is done for now. But what about the other instance(s) where you have responsibilities? "Oh, Yeah! I guess I'll go there and see what's up."
You look on the header line of your current Control Panel where it says "Favorite Forums" and, right there on that same row are the abbreviations of all of the other instances where you have Favorite Forums. All you need to do is click on one of those buttons and bingo, the Favorite Forums for that instance show up in place of the ones that were there just a minute ago. All's quiet there... so you click on the third one. Nothing to do there either, so you click on the first one again. "Yay, I can play now!"
Here's what you need to do to make this work for you:
You must go to each of your instances where you have Favorite Forums. Bring up your Control Page. Now, let's do these one at a time. It'll be easier that way. Click on a Favorite Forum. Up comes the postlist page with all the threads. Go to the bottom of the screen (there's a "bottom" link just to the left of the Subject line) and click on "Favorite Forum (toggle)". This removes that forum from your favorites. Click on it again. This re-instates it and now will include it as part of this new feature.
Now, click on your Control Panel and do the above to each of the rest of the Favorite Forums you have on this instance.
Go to your next instance and do the same thing with all of your Favorite Forums there. As you progress through this obstacle course, you will begin to see the instances show up that you've already completed. Cool. Click one of those abbreviations to see this in action.
Once you've done all of them and dealt with what needs to be dealt with, you can go play. Just think though, from now on, you'll be able to go play sooner than you used to.
Please note that all the other infomation on your Control Panel is related to the instance that you are currently logged into. |

Today,August 8th, at 4:00 PM The Million Simolean Contest had it's third trial at Tiki Tropical Skills for a Mech and Cooking Till you Drop Contest. After putting on a hat, the contestants, grabbed a book and sat on a couch.
After a few minutes, the only people left were Arturo, Brandog and Leif C. Who would win? Suddenly, ALL three contestants got up at about the same time. After a long disscussion between Bigaferd (A judge) and Tiki Man (Myself, another judge) we decided that Leif C got third place, Brandog got second place, and the champion was Arturo. Arturo, Brandog, and Leif now have a place in the million dollar contest!!!

Bubblicious: Bubble Pizza Sweeps DC
History: Bubble pizza came to Dragon's Cove (DC) from a group of bubble pizza players from Dan's Grove (DG). When they decided to come to DC they all agreed to the last name of pizza. They were a group of about ten strong. "When [they] all went [their] separate ways for a few months it started dying out". Now Ivanna Pizza, Poppa John Pizza, and Mama Celeste Pizza have come back and bubble fever is underway. Ivanna has taken charge finding many bubble players in DC.

Bubble style pizza is basically the same as IM pizza but the main differences are that in bubble pizza there is no leader and it is played using room chat.
First everyone lists what they have in large ingredients. If a pizza can be made everyone adds their ingredients. If no large can be made everyone lists the medium ingredients they have....and so on and so forth. With a good team play goes very fast and we make lots of simoleans! = )
I also interviewed Poppa John Pizza to get a feel on what Bubble Pizza is all about.
Q: What is the reason you like bubble pizza more then IM pizza?
A: Well, in bubble you are an active participant, and it’s not as boring as IM. In IM the only person who has to stay on their toes is the leader, in bubble, everyone has to make snap decisions, to me and true bubble players, its just more fun
Q: How much can you make in a bubble pizza round in comparison to an IM pizza round?
A: If you have a good team you can do maybe 10& to 20% more, because a leader doesn't have to list separately. Each player can add quickly. Once players get to know each other well, you can work as a team, can almost read the others minds
Q: How many rounds does it take a new bubble player to become "good"?
A: Well, those who know pizza catch on quickly, usually 2 to 3 round to feel really comfortable.
Q: What is the Pizza family's goal in bringing back bubble pizza?
A: Just to get others interested in the style and to have others to bubble with.
Q: Anything else you wish to add?
Hopefully we'll get a lot of people interested in bringing this almost a lost art back.
I urge everyone to try a round of bubble pizza before they pack there sim bags and move out of DC. You may find happiness where you least expect it!

Entertainment houses don't draw a lot of crowds in East Jerome (EJ) although recently an entertainment house drew my attention. Party Animals has been around for nearly a year, and the owner, Atata, has taken the time to answer a few questions about his wonderful lot.
Hi Atata, your house looks amazing from the property description! That roof art is great. How long have you had this house?
A year or so I believe lol.
What encouraged you to make this entertainment house?
I always enjoy having fun with other sims :D So I made a fun house for friends and others to hang out, party and play!
Not many people seem to notice your lot. I know I have only just noticed it, which encouraged me to write this report. Why is this?
One reason is that it is hidden in the mountains, LOL, and another could be that I am not always on my lot every day. (Another reason) is because I just don't have that charm to lure people in XD!
Your lot has some truly amazing roof art. Who did this roof for you?
LOL amazing, wow, I'm flattered, ty! I did this roof art. I am deeply into animals, and I love creating animal characters
I can see that you like animals just by looking at your sim Thank You Atata

Interhogan gains A New Junior Reporter!
Hello Interhogan (IH)! My name islilcutieTSO also known as Alex Salus, and I am your new Junior reporter for this wonderful place we love to call home.
Let me tell you a little about myself...
I am from New Zealand (NZ). My family and I moved here from South Africa in September of 2000. In my spare time I enjoy playing TSO, reading and listening to music.
I have been playing TSO since September 2003, and I love every minute of it. My sim, Alex Salus is famous for her monkey suit and Pooh-Bah hat that she wears. Her monkey suit is magical, and she strives to save IH from evil when she wears it.
Anyway, that's all from me right now! I look forward to reporting on IH in the future.

At 9:30pm EST. on August 4, 2005, there was another contest to decide who goes on to the Million Simoleon Contest. The million simoleon will be held at Get Rich Quick on Thursday, August 18th, 2005. The only way to get in is through the raffle that was held 3 weeks ago, and by being in any of our trial contests. At the Million Simoleon Contest you can win ONE MILLION SIMOLEONS!
As a heads up, the million simoleon contest trials will be held on Mondays and Thursdays until Thursday, August 18.
This contest took place at Woman Space on August 4th, and it was another success story for the Test Center Committee. Unfortunately my partner, -Arturo, was not present, but I seemed to manage. There were 8 participants in this contest which included Tania Sabitino, Joeysuph Heim (me), Elegance, Rikku, Babii Brooke, Jessie Durton, BMA, and Geeee.
The contest started out with all 8 participants wearing their own hat. After a while of skilling and talking, Tania Sabitino had to leave so she could possibly be proposed to by Mr. Harrison. It wasn't long until the next sim was out, and that sim's name was BMA. BMA left right after he lost. This got us talking about who would be out next. We all thought it would be ourselves who were out; however, Elegance was the last to say anything. She dropped right as her chat bubble popped. Seconds after, Babii Brooke dropped, followed shortly after by me.
It was down to the Final three, and the only sims left were Rikku, Jesse Durton, and Geeee. They all continued skilling for a minute until Rikku dropped, coming in third place. The next sim to drop was Jesse Durton in second place, followed by Geeee in first place. Rikku, Jesse Durton, and Geeee are now in the Million Simoleon Contest on August 18.
The next contest will be held at Tiki's Tropical Skills at 4 PM EST. Next Thursday, we will also have a dance till you drop contest at Spider Man's Night Club at 9:30 PM EST.

Doorways Hijinks
Alphaville sims are familiar with the sight of that unfortunate slow lander, standing in the doorway for 5 minutes while their digital spirit catches up with their pixelated body. Warm greetings are rejected as everyone waits for the poor soul to join the land of the simming. And don't forget the delightful feeling of watching that blue bar crawl slowly across city view...16%...50%...(woohoo, made it in!)...66%...weird part of property view, doorway!!...watch a series of comments and interactions fly by in fast forward, and...TOUCHDOWN!
Slow landers have since time immemorable been the target for doorway pranks. Long, long ago taggers would wait to catch slow landers at their most defenseless, and the unfortunate sim would wake up to find their interactions decreased and a red link in their web (usually accompanied by some truly thoughtless comments).
The next prank, and much less distressing, arrived with the influx of cannons. Happy big gun operators would wait gleefully, barrels trained on the doorway, for unwitting slow landers to materialize. In this case, slow didn't even have to be slow -- and the embarassed recipient would arrive to find themselves standing in a puddle, desperately requiring a shower. There was no point in dressing up to go out, or even combing one's hair.
But cannons fell out of fashion and for a time doorway pranks became a thing of the past. That is, until the new interactions brought to us by Maxis introduced the concept of lure, the most innocent of all doorway pranks so far, and yet so fun!! Slow landers would land to find themselves...well, NOT to find themselves. At least not at the doorway. They would be stationed at some odd point in the house, often staring avidly at their summoner who, prank completed, had returned to skilling or money making with abandon, leaving the summoned slow lander to gaze at them in adoration. Serious lurers would gather flocks of admiring afk sims, a sight that never failed to amuse others (who could only secretly wish that they TOO had the ability to lure).
Warning!
At this point, this writer feels the need to warn you, our valued readers, that you may find what follows shocking and disturbing. We recommend not drinking hot beverages as you continue to read. (Snorting coffee through your nose is apparently quite painful.)
This writer caught on a hidden camera proof that doorway pranksters have discovered an all-new low when it comes to greeting slow landers...the deadly...
"Art of Fart".
The secret footage clearly shows poor defenseless sims, knocked cold by the powerful stench of the offender's gaseous greeting. Fragile bodies litter the ground at the doorway, supine sims are everywhere. And we see a clear view of the unidentified prankster clearing his personal airspace, seemingly unconcerned by the complete mayhem he has been the author of.
When questioned about how he produced such a powerful product, one confidential source advised he never studies anything but "100 ways to make baked beans" in his spare time. He dreams of becoming the Lex Luther of farts, stockpiling the stink bombs to be unleashed on any sim that stands in the doorway long enough for him to get there in time to blast away.
Unfortunately, Maxis has been a bit slow responding to this new threat to sim safety and shops are not yet stocked with anti-gas apparel. We can only recommend that you hold your breath until you are safely on the ground, and avoid any suspiciously bloated-looking sims loitering in doorways.

This version brings the Sim Move feature to the cities.
This version will require a small download from the previous version.
Sim Move has finally arrived!
With this version, you will be able to request a move to another city. The move does not happen immediately; all move requests will be processed together during the daily morning reset maintenance.
The first move processing is planned for Wednesday, August 10th. If this date changes we'll announce it to everyone.
Current move restrictions:
- You cannot move to a city where you already have an existing avatar
- You cannot move to a city that is already the destination for one of your avatars (a pending move request)
- You cannot move into or out of Autonomy cities
- You cannot move out of Test Center, but you can move to it.
- You cannot move in to Dragon’s Cove, but you can move out of it.
How does it work?
- To initiate the move, select the “Sim Description” button from the Select-a-Sim screen, and then select "Move Sim". From there, the Move Sim dialogs will guide you through the process of submitting a request to move. If a destination city is grayed out, it means that it is not a valid choice for this sim (such as trying to move a second sim into a city where you already live, or moving out of special cities like Betaville or Test Center).
- The cutoff time for requesting a move, to insure that it happens with the next morning reset, is 1:00am PDT. Moves requested after this time will not happen until the following morning. (Note that the first move processing will not occur until August 10th; after that, they will occur every morning.)
- All of your Sim's possessions (both in your inventory and on your lot), money, skills, locks, job position, and mail messages will move with you, with the exception of your house. You will be moved out of your house just as if you had chosen to move out yourself. If you have roommates, they will inherit the house.
- After a move request, you may still play with that sim, and you can also go back and cancel the move request if you change your mind.
- If your name is already taken on the destination city, it will be changed to be unique by adding a number sequence to the name. In the future you will be able to request a name change to select your own unique name. We had previously planned to append the city initials to your name, but there were technical issues with this.
- All of your inbox messages will move with you. There is currently a slight chance that undelivered messages may be unable to be transferred (undelivered means that you have not entered the city since the message was sent to you). We've added one more feature to the series of Multiple Signatures and Multiple Avatars. This time it's Multiple Titles. This new feature is available for the Stratics Plus  Members, and allows a selection of five additional personal titles.
As with the Multiple Signatures and Multiple Avatars, the Stratics Plus Members will find the Multiple Titles can be entered from their Control Panel, selecting Stratics Unique Features at the bottom of the Control Panel page.
Using the new Multiple Titles feature should be quite intuitive for those that have been enjoying the Multiple Signatures and Multiple Avatars features. Just enter any new titles you would like to have and the name for your title. It's as easy as that. The name for your title will appear on the post entry page when initiating a new post for you to more easily select the title you wish to display for that post.
You will notice that you will be able to select a random display of your titles. Also, you may synchronize your titles with your signatures, exactly like synchronizing your avatars with signatures. And, you can also synchronize all three!
A few words are required for those users that are or will be utilizing the Xfire Signature feature. If you include your Xfire Signature in the random selection of your signature and you have chosen to synchronize your avatars or your titles with your signature, when the Xfire Signature is chosen during the randomizing process, your title will be your Xfire user name. If you synch your avatar it will display the following Xfire logo:

Bingo Fever hits Alphaville!
Bingo is the latest craze to hit Alphaville (AV). In the money catagory you will find Bingo Fever. Owned and ran and built by Ashlin and her roomies. Ashlin of Bingo Fever and her roomies are also the founders of the Bingo Bunnies. The Bingo Bunnies are a fun group of fellow Bingo'ers who all wear Bunny ears and tails! Its a mix of guests, friends and roomies who all have a great time together. They are 66 members strong and growing! They are always looking for new members, you must own bunny ears and tails.
Inside Bingo Fever
Bingo Fever Bingo was originally brought to Alphaville about a month ago. Ashlin had it at the Mystic Hotel Casino first with a six card game and it grew from there. Once it was a hit she decided to open a house that offered nothing but bingo. And since opening they have normally always had a full house. Bingo Fever offers eighteen color coded rooms to choose from. Each room has matching chairs and decor for optimal room score.

How do you play you may ask? Well here is how! When you enter Bingo Fever be sure to get fully green. At the start of the next game choose your room. When you enter the room you will notice that in this version of bingo the bingo cards are made up of floor tiles. The host will let you know when it is time to place your bet in the tip jar. Out of the game peice box place a game marker on the center spot. A roomie will be the caller and will draw from the decks of cards in the call area.
IrishJen is a roomie and one of the bingo callers.
As the caller calls out the tiles, cover the ones in your room with a game peice as you get them. It is just like regular bingo except it is floor tiles instead of numbers. The first to get a line down, diagonal, or across wins. They then holler out Bingo. Winners get the total amount everyone bets, and the house keeps ten percent. Ties are split.
Bingo Bunny Nicolette reminds players of the game.
Some games have been known to be worth 29k and sometimes a friend of the Bunnies may throw in special prizes such as a crafted foot massager. DJ Method and Sysopo have donated quiet a bit of stuff. It is a very interesting game that is full of suspence. What will be the next tile called? If you love bingo and would like to enjoy a fun game while trying to win money. Try out Bingo Fever! It was a normal day in Test Center, and I had just got off work. I decided I would do some crafting, so I went to Cozy Bear Crafting. Little did I know, it would be my last breath!
I arrived in shock to find my sim DEAD! It had to be someone at the house, but who? Was it CntryGrl, Tiki Man, Cherri Bear', or Beach Babe? Suspiciously Cherri Bear' offered to revive me. Was she trying to hide the fact she killed me by being nice? OR was it part of her dinner reservations?
When I was finally revived, Cherri pointed out I was still in my work uniform. I suddenly gasped! There were many guests at the restaurant today, could they have killed me? There was one way to find out, we would go back to the restaurant where it happened, and review the security cameras.
WHAT WAS ON THE CAMERA:
Joeysuph Heim is serving food to the maid and Gardener. Behind him is a masked man with a hammer holding it up behind Joeysuph. The screen goes fuzzy.
To my surprise, we saw the maid and gardener taking a lunch break from work. They looked really familiar too... AHA! They were just at my house working for little to no pay! That's the perfect reason to kill me!
Now it's time to interview the maid and the gardener.
I kept asking them questions, but I received no answers! No answers mean they're hiding something. So, I went to the plate they ate off of to see if I saw anything suspicious that night at the diner.

Tonight in Test Center the ‘Test Center Committee’ held the 2nd of 6 trials that will take place. For what purpose you ask? To find those worthy enough to compete in the “Million Dollar Contest” to be held later this month!
This trial was all about Simmy Endurance, so naturally the committee held a “Dance ‘Till you Drop” contest. The participants are as follows:

As usual, the East Jerome monthly Simmy Awards would be held at different types of places each month, but when we decided to take it on a cruise, things turned out of the ordinary. That morning when we left on the Carnival Jerome the sun was shining beautifully like any other average day, but things started to churn up when we were performing. After singing the citywide anthem, “My East Jerome”, the wind started to kick up and the boat kept shifting causing missteps in our dance moves. The ship shifted too much that we had to stop our dance! The thunder began and then there was a loud clang and a big “boom”, as if something fell through the boat! I went to examine the problem and when I came back to the stage it was to late…
Everyone rushed to get a life jacket; some could not handle the waves and got ill. The chandelier in the lobby was moving back and forth as if it were going to snap off and break into a zillion pieces. We rushed upstairs, by stairs, to the Unicorn Café on the ship (It is the muster station or emergency gathering place). One wave was so high that it smashed up side of the boat and came on deck! Everyone was going crazy; some even wanted food to calm them down (Strange, I know)
The wind and rain was fierce on my face, as I tried to inflate the lifeboat. Unfortunately, only one was working so we all had to cram on that boat. We have gotten on the boat and just in time! The boat began to give away and start to sink. One person actually remembered and told me to bring the award and the podium! We started to drift off a little bit and then in a split second, the wind stopped the rain stopped, and all what was left was the sound of the motors and the ocean. How awkward was that!
We finished the award ceremony on the lifeboat, and everyone enjoyed their time there and the ceremony. Everyone left with smiles on their faces. East Jeromers know how to have fun! Good job!

Having a Ball in Betaville
On the last Saturday of every month, the wonderful city of Betaville holds a citywide monthly Ball with a theme. Those who wish to host for the ball turn on their searchlights. Beta Bargains owned by Shelly Simsalot brought toga fashion into the 21st Century by holding a "Couch Potato Contest" to find the best Couch Potato in Betaville. As the 21 contestants greened and flocked to the Theater room clad in their togas, the intense competition begana. The competition was tough; the task the most difficult ever for a Betavillian: to sit still. 44 minutes later, a clear winner emerged, and Magic Marker was crowned The Couch Potato of Betaville and awarded his very own, freshly crafted, limited edition, wall mount plasma TV. Each family participating was offered a new floor plasma TV for participating. Congratulations, Magic!
Across town the Starship Enterprise owned by Douglas Stone was hosting Musical chairs in space. Another feat that proves difficult for freewill sims. The Pye' crew of the Enterprise normally clad in spacesuits donned togas and provided togas for the guests as well. The Master sims only participated, while their family members cheered them on. The players (wearing gravity boots apparently) were required to take their marks on the outer hull of the ship and choose an idle emote as the pianist played. When the music stopped, all ran to grab a seat. Of course, there were fewer seats to be had than there were sims playing. The last sim in the competition won a cash prize, and free space travel to destination of his choice.
Across the river, Raceco Typing Manor owned by Ariella Raceco had completely remodeled into a Roman Bath House for the evening's festival. Servants wearing their togas prepared delicious meals and provided warm hospitality to travelers of Betaville as they swam or just relaxed in the many large steaming pools on the property.
A good time was had by all, and it could be said we 'had a ball' at the ball. This writer can hardly wait to see what fun will be happening in Betaville next! Stay tuned... |

Population Increase???
As many of us all know, East Jerome (EJ)is a city that no-one takes much notice of when creating a sim in. But when you really get involved in the city, you just can't leave!
As most of the EJ citizens know, the city has had its population decrease over time, just like other cities. But just recently, EJ proves to be working its way to the top again.
The population increase started towards the end of June/Beginning of July and more sims have flocked in since then. I had an interview with one of the newcomers to see what they thought of EJ and why they chose it.
Spike: Are you new to The Sims Online (TSO) or just East Jerome (EJ) ?
Zoisite: I'm new to TSO.
Spike: How are you finding the game so far?
Zoisite: Interesting overall. I've played The Sims before, but having the added social interaction here is nice.
Spike: Yes it is What encouraged you to choose EJ as your starter city?
Zoisite: I was looking for a city feel. Usually people tend to flock to cities more. This leads to more social interaction, which is what I was looking for.
Spike: So, how are you finding the people of EJ so far?
Zoisite: Well, I havn't really met many yet, but the few i have seemed nice. This is my first day, and I expect it to take time to really get to know some people here.
Spike: Thank You Zoisite, for your time and answers.
Zoisite: No problem. Was a pleasure talking to you. ^_^
