Valeria - Welcome to The Sims Online Fireside Chat! Tonight's chat is going to be in a semi-moderated format.
Valeria - This is different from other Chats we've had, so let me give you a brief description as to how this is going to work.
Valeria - I'll post a question in the channel then unmoderate the room. This will allow everyone to answer that particular question. When it's time to move on to another question, I'll moderate the room and post the next one.
Valeria - Now before we get started, I'm going to give the floor to MaxisTigger who has a few words she'd like to say.
MaxisTigger - Hello everyone and welcome to our discussion :)
MaxisTigger - We are doing things a bit differently tonight so I can gather feedback and deliver it to our team
MaxisTigger - As some of you may know I have been giving sneak peeks during the last few chats on what is coming
MaxisTigger - Tonight will be no different :)
MaxisTigger - Coming soon to Test Center we will be implementing Secured Trading.
MaxisTigger - Players require a mechanism in order to trade anything that may have value with each other. This includes cash (Simoleons), objects and property.
MaxisTigger - More information on secure trading can be found on our backstage forums
MaxisTigger - to start the chat discussion off our first question for you will be what would make fire fun?

Syke[BC] - MMORPGS have been known to attract addictive personality personas.. and other mental problems, to the point that some have comited suicide due to a game in question, Seeing as Sims Online is a fantasy real life simulater to some extent will it come with a warning label in the future to avoid any potential law suits arrising from these events?

JustinGray - To make fire fun, first off, you'd need to make many many more different fireplace styles. The current choices don't allow for much innovation in where they go or how they are used. Also, create a special emote to do within a raduis of the fireplace.
HoneyDeLite - I don't want guests to be able to burn down my objects, as long as I'm smart

MtFujiWhitneyB - Would the fire damage other things in the house? It would bring room score down severely also..and it would be a bind to clean all of the ashes if you have a busy property.

Thalia - I think that if fire was to destroy property, it could upset many players who have invested a lot of time into purchasing some of their more expensive objects.

BarbieQ - I think insurance would create an unbalance in wealth much like the real world. The poor little houses couldn't afford it so it would offer a more realistic aspect to this game.

KROM - how about burnable items can be put in a room and cheapyly repired or replaces like haybales

J_Cephus - If people dedicate properties to the various jobs. Like a firefighter department. Then people could look them up on the property search menu and find a firefighter.

Tyler_Kinch - Yes. Jobs will be exciting. It will create a less MAXIS depended economy. And would encourage roleplaying a lot. Less need for those "god-awful" job objects and you can be more creative. I think that you might need to lower the payouts on JOB OBJECTS though, so people will be encouraged to take the jobs. Overall, jobs will be an excellent addition to the game

BarbieQ - A job would add interest only if it was manual labor like bartending, housekeeping or djing
Lord_SShadow - Make sure that there is incentive to take a job... Not like the fiasco of the property categories. If you are going to be a doc, make sure there is some reward for chosing that type of job.

MaxisTigger - Basically the way it will work is:
MaxisTigger - Chat history window shows all the chat a player has recently heard. (It will not show chat that happened before they entered the property, parentally controlled chat, ignored chat, etc.)
MaxisTigger - The chat window can display a max # of lines of text before the old ones disappear.
MaxisTigger - Property leader's name appears in one color; roommates in another color; visitors in another color. All chat appears in the same color.
MaxisTigger - The chat window is translucent, allowing Players to see some of the world behind it
MaxisTigger - When you open the window
MaxisTigger - Players can toggle the chat window with the CTRL- H command.
MaxisTigger - Alternatively, there will be options in the option menu for players to enable or disable the chat window and to disable/enable overhead chat bubbles.
MaxisTigger - The chat window is off by default.
MaxisTigger - Defaults
MaxisTigger - By default, the chat window typically appears directly above the mode panels, but it is movable.
MaxisTigger - When the chat window closes or the client is shut down, the window remembers its last location. When the chat window next opens, it appears at that size, in that location.

Thalia - That is a great feature but I also think that a journal that can be viewed offline would be just as important. Many times people give you web addresses, email addresses, names of lots, etc. Yet you may not visit it till later or don't have time to view it. An offline journal would allow you to "catch up" just as the online works.
